The hardest part was simply to find the right cross compiler.
There are many of them which would claim to compile the ADMB libraries
successfully, but then the catage exe would crash on kindle.
Then I found one which simply worked.

The kindle is much more powerful than
the VAX780 we all  worked on in the day!   BTW deal extreme has a
an ARM netbook for under $100.
