Hi Mark,
It looks like the relative path is causing the issue in
http://admb-project.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/sparse/string1.cpp
You could try feeding it a slash before going one directory up, e.g.
./../forward
with the relevant -ind argument for where the data are.
